About

What is Recovery Dharma?

Recovery Dharma is a peer-led community that uses Buddhist practices and principles — like meditation, mindfulness, and the Four Noble Truths — as a path to recovery from addiction of all kinds. Instead of relying on dogma or hierarchy, we support one another as equals, drawing wisdom from the Buddha’s teachings and our own lived experiences. All are welcome, no matter what brought you to recovery or where you are on your journey.

Who We Are

Ad Astra Recovery Dharma is a community of people using the Buddhist-inspired practices of mindfulness, compassion, forgiveness and generosity to heal the pain and suffering caused by addiction. Through these practices we train our hearts and minds to see clearly and to free our thoughts, intentions, and actions from all forms of hatred, ill-will, aversion and wishing harm on ourselves or others.
Growth and recovery require individual and continual effort. Community support is an essential component to remaining dedicated to your individual efforts.

About The Meetings

Meetings are open to people of all backgrounds, and are appropriate for anyone interested in recovering from any form of addictive behavior. You do not need any previous knowledge of Buddhism or experience with meditation to attend. Peer-led meetings include guided meditations, group discussion, and readings from Recovery Dharma and other recovery resources. These community gatherings are welcoming, informative, encouraging and uplifting. We look forward to having you join us.
